I welcome applications from motivated individuals passionate about exploring evolutionary biology and animal behavior. If you are interested in working in my lab toward a degree, then I invite you to send me an email expressing your interests.
I encourage my students to read widely and exhaustively, to develop a healthy level of independence in their work, to design well thought-out experiments, and to publish in high quality international journals.
If you are an MS student, you will need papers to get into a competitive PhD program. If you are a PhD student you will need several solid publications to get a post-doc, a job and then more to get tenure! Clearly, it's best to start publishing early, and to press on steadily.
I believe that to succeed in science requires not only a sense of curiosity and wonderment about nature, but also courage, shrewd determination, and a well-developed work ethic and sense of humor. When you've taken the time to do the job right, you're not likely to regret it!
